A perfect-bound second-hand copy of Christmas Carol and Other Christmas Writings by Charles Dickens, re-covered in a traditional 1/2 bound style, reminiscent of Victorian diaries and ledgers, using second-hand maroon leather over faux raised bands and vintage hand-marbled paper chosen for its Christmas like colours. The end papers are also hand marbled, with a pattern that evokes fir trees and baubles. The book is finished with two handmade book labels. The larger is a Victorian style ornate bookplate created from surviving examples of Victorian print design and signed in green ink “Fezziwig“. The other is small, cut close to the text, on brown kraft paper, with black ink showing the miserliness of the name “E. Scrooge“.
The spine has been lined with vintage marbled paper and inscribed with the year of (re) binding and a quote from Christmas Carol: “I wear the chain I forged in life.”
NB: Due to the second hand nature of the main text block and the leather, these will show signs of age.
